Your springs do the heavy lifting, not your opener. We install springs from Service Spring Corp (SSC), an American spring manufacturer since 1962 with a service center right here in Indianapolis. Our default springs are chosen to beat the 10,000 cycle industry standard.
Torsion springs on our truck, ready to install
SSC has built garage door springs in America since 1962.
SSC runs a service center in Indianapolis, so the right size spring for your door is close by.
Standard springs have a black oil tempered finish. Galvanized and powder coated springs are available for extra corrosion resistance.
Our default springs are rated well above 10,000 cycles on a standard door, and SSC DuraMaster springs are available for even more.
Most springs in the industry are rated for about 10,000 cycles. Here is how the approximate ratings of our default springs compare on a standard 7 foot tall door.
Approximate cycle life at 7.5 turns
One cycle is one open and one close.
Reading a spring size: 243-2-33 means .243 inch wire, a 2 inch inside diameter and a 33 inch length.
Your exact spring is matched to your door's weight and height, so the rating varies by door. A standard 7 foot opening takes about 7.5 turns.
We keep the most common springs and parts stocked on the truck, so many repairs can be finished in the same visit.

One cycle is one open and one close. Many standard springs are rated around 10,000 cycles, roughly 7 to 9 years at 3 to 4 cycles a day. The springs we install on a standard door are rated about 17,000 to 25,000 cycles or more, so they can last roughly twice as long.
Torsion springs hold a huge amount of tension and can cause serious injury if handled without the right tools and training. If a spring breaks, do not use the opener to force the door. Call or text us and we will take care of it safely.
On doors with two springs, both springs have the same number of cycles on them. When one breaks, the other is usually close behind, so replacing both saves you a second service call.
Springs are matched to your door's weight and height by wire size, inside diameter and length. The wrong spring makes the door hard on the opener and unsafe to use.
Every tune up includes a spring tension and balance check, so we can catch a tired spring before it leaves you stuck. Fall special: $59, regularly $69, through 11/30/2026. That is the total price. Other repairs are always quoted first, and you decide.
